3. 235 vs England | 2016

Virat Kohli’s 235 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai against England was his third Test double hundred of the year in 2016.

This was the fourth Test of the five-match series, and here James Anderson was expected to dominate Kohli like before, but Kohli wasn’t the same batter of 2014 this time.

He was improved, rejuvenated, and at his peak. He played Anderson convincingly and made the spinners like Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid struggle for wickets.

Despite Kohli’s resistance, India’s middle order fell like a deck of cards. India lost 4 quick wickets, which forced Kohli to play more aggressively, and India’s number 9 batter, Jayant Yadav, too, went on to score a century. India won the match by an innings and 36 runs.

Virat Kohli at his home ground scored 243 runs from 287 balls against Sri Lanka, registering his second consecutive Test double hundred. Kohli’s marathon innings of 243 runs came with the help of 25 boundaries.

He looked set for his first triple hundred but was trapped on the back foot by Lakshan Sandakan. Kohli’s innings was a prime example of how one should bat against spinners on turning tracks.
