5. 131 vs England | 2024

Rohit Sharma scored 131 runs from 196 runs in the first innings against England in Rajkot. India were down to 3 wickets for 33 runs by the end of the first 10 overs.

But Rohit Sharma was off to a quick start, scoring 17 runs from 20 balls. However, Mark Wood constantly troubled the right-hander with his express pace and the bounce he got on the Rajkot track.

Rohit survived Wood’s spell and attacked Tom Hartley, hitting him for consecutive boundaries while Root dropped Rohit’s catch in the slip.

The opener continued to play with an attacking intent. He reached his century from 158 balls and was later finally dismissed by Mark Wood on a short ball.

4. 161 vs England | 2021

Rohit Sharma’s innings of 161 runs from 231 balls in 2021 against England in Chennai is one of the finest innings played on a rank-turner. The ball started to turn in the 8th over of the first innings on the first day.

But Rohit, who was at the crease, decided to play an attacking innings and not let the spinners settle. The Indian opener completed his fifty from 49 deliveries, but India lost the wickets of Pujara and Kohli in consecutive overs.

3. 176 vs South Africa | 2019

At the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Rohit Sharma scored 176 runs against South Africa in 2019 while playing his first innings as an opener in Test cricket.

He played the role of an aggressor in the opening partnership of 317 runs with Mayank Agarwal. Though Rohit started his innings very cautiously as the ball was moving, when the spinners came, he attacked and reached his fifty before the end of the first session.

Rohit looked very comfortable in the second session. He was hitting the spinners for fun, and against pacers too, he looked good, completing his century from 154 balls.

Post his hundred, Rohit attacked Philander and Maharaj, but on the score of 176 runs, Maharaj got Rohit out stumped. His innings included 6 sixes and 23 fours.

2. 177 vs West Indies | 2013

In his debut Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Rohit Sharma was batted at number 6 and scored 177 runs from 301 balls with the help of 23 fours and a six.

Rohit, in his first Test innings, displayed his potential, coming out to bat when the score was 83 for 5 with both Sachin and Kohli back in the pavilion. Rohit stitched a partnership with MS Dhoni, which was followed by a long partnership of 280 runs with Ashwin.

India lost their third wicket at the score of 39 runs, then Rohit and Rahane stitched a 267-run partnership. Rohit played fearless cricket after his fifty, and when he was at the score of 94 and 199 runs, he hit a six to reach his milestone.
