The Duleep Trophy 2024 marks the beginning of India’s domestic cricket season 2024-25. The prestigious First-Class tournament will kick off on September 5, 2024, with Bengaluru and Anantapur hosting the matches.

This is the 61st edition of the Duleep Trophy, which will see a new format in action, moving from the zonal format. There will be a total of 6 First-Class games split into 3 rounds.

Some of the capped Indian Test players will also be in action, along with the best red-ball players from the country.

Duleep Trophy 2024: Format

The BCCI has introduced a new format, with 4 teams competing against each other once. 

Previously, 6 zonal teams participated in the Duleep Trophy. But this edition, 4 teams selected by national selectors will partake in the Duleep Trophy.

The 4 teams are India A, India B, India C, and India D. All teams will play in a single round-robin format in 4-day matches, with the points table topper adjudged as the winner.

Duleep Trophy 2024: Points System

Here’s the points system for the Duleep Trophy 2024 edition:

7 points: For winning a match by an innings or 10 wickets.

6 points: For winning a match outright.

3 points: For taking the first innings lead, but no outright win.

1 point: For losing the match after taking the first innings lead. 

Duleep Trophy 2024: Venues

Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will host 1 match, while Anantapur’s Rural Development Trust Stadium A will host 3 matches and Stadium B will host 2 matches.
