5. Tony Dodemaide: 5/21 vs Sri Lanka | Perth, 1988

Former medium pacer from Australia Tony Dodemaide, who played only 24 ODIs in his career, holds the record for having the best bowling figures on ODI debut for Australia. He took 5 wickets for 21 runs from 7.2 overs against Sri Lanka at Perth in 1988.

His five-wicket haul helped the Aussies win the match. Tony took crucial wickets of Arvinda De Silva and Arjuna Ranatunga.

Tony was known to swing the ball both ways and he was a bowler of new ball with his limited pace he struggled to take wickets in the middle overs.

4. Jan Frylinck: 5/13 vs Namibia | Windhoek, 2019

Namibian all-rounder Jan Frylinck who once represented South Africa at the under-19 level, made his debut for Namibia in 2019 and registered figures of 13 runs for 5 wickets from his 8 overs against Oman.

The left-arm medium pacer has taken around 35 wickets in his short ODI career and he is a key player for Namibia cricket.

3. Fidel Edwards: 6/22 vs Zimbabwe | Harare, 2003

Former Caribbean pacer Fidel Edwards took 6 wickets on his ODI debut by giving away only 22 runs in his 7 overs against Zimbabwe at Harare.

Edwards failed to find success for the Windies in ODIs despite starting his career with record figures though he was a successful red ball bowler where he took more than 150 wickets.

Back in 2009, Edwards played his last ODI match. He was dropped after a string of poor performances.

2. Kagiso Rabada: 6/16 vs Bangladesh | Mirpur, 2015

Kagiso Rabada who is one of the finest pacers in the current era, announced his arrival in style by picking up 6 wickets for 16 from 8 overs against Bangladesh on ODI debut.

Since then Rabada has taken over 150 ODI wickets and has been a regular member of the South Africa team.

He is a seam bowler who mostly bowls as the first change bowler for South Africa and with his fiery pace he makes the batters find it tough to face his bouncers.

1. Charlie Cassell: 7/21 vs Oman | Dundee, 2024

Charlie Cassell a medium pacer from Scotland has made his debut recently and he made it to the record books immediately. Charlie registered the figures of 7 wickets for 21 runs from his 5.4 overs against Oman.

Charlie was introduced as the first change bowler on his debut. Oman were off to a good start but Charlie bowled at the right line and lengths.

Oman suffered a collapse and were bowled out for just 91 runs. Charlie picked up 3 wickets in his first over itself.
