Indian opener Rohit Sharma is the master of daddy hundreds. No one in the history of One-Day Internationals (ODIs) has scored more double hundreds than him. Rohit has also scored the most number of 150 plus runs in an ODI innings.

5. 162 vs West Indies | 2018

Rohit Sharma was close to another double hundred in ODIs on 29th October 2018 playing against West Indies at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

Rohit Sharma showed his class the day when both of the Indian top-order batters Shikhar and Virat were dismissed early. Rohit in the first powerplay started cautiously scoring 21 off 28 balls and reached his fifty from 63 balls with a pull shot.

Rohit accelerated after his fifty and scored the next fifty runs in 35 deliveries taking on the spinners. The right-hander looked unstoppable after the 40th over and was hitting the ball for fun until Ashley Nurse took his wicket at the score of 162 runs from 137 balls.

4. 171* vs Australia | 2016

India’s tour to Australia in 2016 started on a good note for Rohit Sharma as he smashed 171* runs from 163 balls in Perth where hitting the ball was a tough task. Rohit carried his bat till the end.

The right-hander started aggressively in the first powerplay but after that, Mitchell Marsh and Scott Boland were not allowing him to score much for a period. Rohit then targeted Glenn Maxwell and James Faulker, reaching his century from 121 balls.

Rohit in the next 42 balls scored 71 runs with the help of 4 sixes and plenty of fours against the likes of Joel Paris. Despite Rohit’s top effort, India lost the match by 5 wickets.

3. 208* vs Sri Lanka | 2017

Rohit’s 208* against Sri Lanka in 2017 in Mohali was his third ODI double hundred and first as the Indian captain. He was leading the team in Virat’s absence.

It will sound crazy but the fact that Rohit was on 101 runs off 116 balls and he ended at 208* from 153 balls, scoring the last 107 runs from just 37 balls, which included 4 consecutive sixes against Suranga Lakmal in the 44th over, which was followed by consecutive sixes to Pradeep in the next over.

Rohit needed 9 runs in the last over of the innings to complete his double ton and he scored a total of 17 runs in the final over.

2. 209 vs Australia | 2013

Back in 2013, Rohit Sharma got the name of “Hitman” after his innings of 209 runs from 158 balls against Australia in Bengaluru. His innings included 16 sixes which is the highest number of sixes hit by an Indian player in an ODI innings.

Rohit’s 209 was a very well-constructed innings. He took on the spinners early in his innings, smashing Glenn Maxwell and Xavier Doherty for consecutive sixes.

Rohit got his hundred in the 37th over from 114 balls. In the next 44 balls, he smashed 109 runs.

He hit Clint McKay for 15 runs in the 46th over and took 26 runs from the 47th over against Doherty, which was followed by another six over the covers to reach his double hundred.

1. 264 vs Sri Lanka | 2014

On 13th November 2014, facing Sri Lanka at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Rohit Sharma registered the highest score by a batter in an ODI innings, hitting 264 runs from 173 balls, a knock which included 33 fours and 9 sixes.

The right-hander struggled at the start, scoring only 12 runs from 25 balls in the first powerplay. Rohit played patiently, hitting the bad balls for fours and constantly taking single-doubles.

The momentum was changed when Rohit smashed Nuwan Kulasekera for 15 runs in the 30th over and he completed his hundred in the 32nd over from 100 balls.

In the next 73 balls, Rohit went on hitting 163 runs with the help of 8 sixes and many boundaries. Rohit, after struggling against Kulasekera in the first powerplay, took him to the cleaners later and he never let Eranga get his length right and kept on hitting him for boundaries.
